Sweet boy ended up getting sick on his birthday, which I think was a trick to get to spend the day with Mommy and Landon. He woke up with his eye all swollen and red, and just seemed to not feel great. I stayed home with him and Landon, and we ate cupcakes for breakfast, watched tons of Christmas movies, worked on stuff for his birthday party, and just PLAYED and PLAYED!! We couldn't get into the doctor until the afternoon, but when we did, we found out that he had an ear infection and eye infection. They started him on medicine, and he is feeling as good as new!
Thursday night I had to go to an event at the school. We have a huge family event to celebrate the diversity in our school. There were hundreds of people there, and almost everyone brought a special kind of food! It was fun, but I must admit I raced out right after my shift!
When I got home, we ate dinner, sang to Owen, and let him open his birthday present from Mommy and Daddy! He was not really feeling the cupcake as he didn't feel great, was tired, and just wanted to be held...But the bday present was another story!
Landon helped him open his present which was a balloon with a note on it that said, "We are going to meet Mickey at Disney World!" The boys of course didn't really know what that meant, so the excitement over the news was minimal (except Landon has talked every day since about us going to Disney World and all the characters he'll get to meet). However, the BALLOON was the HIT of the night! The boys played with it for almost an hour, chasing each other with the balloon and trying to hit it! Also in the middle of playing, Owen stood up and took a couple of steps!!
Overall it was a great birthday, and we are excited to celebrate our sweet boy with his BIG FARM PARTY today!! I will write a post about that and do a more formal Owen 12 month post after his one year checkup!
