Wind and Waves: Jekyll Island Beach Trip

Every July, Philip has a conference on Jekyll Island. The great thing about this conference is that it is very family friendly! Philip does have to go to meetings during the day, but he is usually finished around 3:30. So then we have time to play, play, play! Last year was our first year attending, but I'm sure it will be a continuous family tradition.

Landon LOVED the beach! He jumped right into the waves and had a blast playing in the sand. Our hotel was right on the beach, so it was nice to be able to go from the beach to the pool, and also be so close to the room! He loved watching the big kids play and tried to imitate them as they played in the water. Very cute!

Here's a picture of Landon last summer at Jekyll! He was about 3 months old!

Families are always invited to the dinners at night, and they have fireworks on the last night. It was a little more challenging to bring Landon to the dinners since he is at the fabulous "messy eater" stage, but overall he did pretty good. No overly embarrassing moments! :) Philip and I are very conscious of his behavior in restaurants because we don't want to ruin anybody's meal, but everyone at the dinners seemed to enjoy having him around. They talked to him and stole him away to play with him. Many people commented on his pleasant and happy personality. That of course makes a Mom feel good. We'll see if they say the same next summer when I've got a 2 year old and an 8 month old. Haha! I'm thinking we'll have to hire a babysitter for the dinners (or bring one with us to Jekyll--Emily? Interested?!)

Day 1- Sunday

Packed and ready to leave. KJ says, "I want to go to!"

First step on the beach! He hasn't been to the beach since he started walking!

Day 2- Monday
Landon loved playing in the tide pools!

The shadow of Mommy's 20 week belly!

Dinner that night was with lots of people, but they had a great dock for walks while we waited for our food.

My favorite series of pictures because Landon could see himself in the phone and kept sticking out his tongue!

Take 2

Take 3

Finally got a smile!

After dinner we went walking around the village at St. Simon's Island.

Day 2- Tuesday

Breakfast on the beach with Mommy

We rode this beautiful carriage for a tour around Jekyll. Landon loved the horse!

Waiting for our carriage ride

Daddy's finished with meetings! Time to play on the beach!

Silly Philip was playing with his ring while we were driving and dropped it into a crack above the steering wheel. It got stuck inside the car! He was really stressing out and pulled over three times to look for it!

After about 30 minutes of searching and taking part of the car apart he found it. It really kind of made me feel good that he was so anxious about it. :) It's not like his ring was super expensive, and when I told him that it would be okay if he couldn't find it, he could then upgrade it, he did not like that idea! He said he liked THIS ring because it is special and the one we used to say our vows. Aww...so sweet! :)

We loved walking around the village at night and getting ice cream!

Day 3- Wednesday

Landon and I found this beautiful sand dollar!

We ate lunch at a restaurant on the water and then had to head home. :(
We had such a great trip!
