The Big Move!

The week before the big move was very busy. Philip was supposed to work through Thursday but he ended up taking a couple of half days to help me out with packing. Aunt Sharon was wonderful and kept Landon Sunday night through Wednesday afternoon. This was a huge help! Landon had a great time, and I didn’t have to worry about keeping him entertained when he wasn’t napping or him getting hurt or breaking something. I missed him so much those three nights, but it made it easier to know that he was having so much fun with Aunt Sharon and Uncle Charlie. Aunt Sharon is really good about sending me pictures and videos throughout the day so I can see what he’s eating and all the things he is up to! While Landon was gone, we pretty much finished packing the entire house and got a good start on the cleaning with the help of my friend Courtney and my sister Emily.
Landon loves playing outside with Uncle Charlie!

Aunt Sharon lets Landon stay outside and explore almost all day! He LOVES it!

Sharon and Brittney took Landon to the mall to ride on the train!

All this playing is exhausting!

Most of the boxes. Yuck! Packing is AWFUL!

Landon was excited to return home and find that the house was now like an obstacle course!!

After Landon came back, we spent Thursday trying to stay out of the house. We went to Chick-Fil-A, the Athens Library to a musical story time, the mall, and swimming at our friend Leslie’s house. That evening we got the moving truck. Philip, his Dad, and Hunter loaded up the first load of furniture and boxes onto the truck. They worked until late that night. Then we closed on the house Friday morning. We were blessed to have great childcare for Landon on Friday! Grandaddy watched Landon while we closed on the house and Lindsay Ann watched Landon in the afternoon so we could start moving.

Having fun with Lindsay Ann and Tucker!

Despite the BRUTAL weather (108 degrees!!) Lots got moved on Friday thanks to Philip, Hunter, Grandaddy, BB, Rob, Tim, and Emily. My parents also arrived late on Friday night. They brought a mattress to bring to Emily’s new house, so they stayed at the new house on Friday night.

The temperature! This was for real!! Not after the car had been sitting in a parking lot!
That morning we woke up so early! I was just too excited! BB took Landon and I out and about to Walmart, Krispy Kreme, and Sams! In addition to the doughnuts, she bought us some cute new rugs for the house!
My parents stayed at the new house and moved all the boxes from the garage into the house. My Mom started working on unpacking. My Dad also went grocery shopping and bought food for meals for the entire weekend and then started cooking for everyone.  My parents stayed until Monday and helped us get the rest of the way unpacked and helped us finish the details like painting things, putting a lock on the door, hanging pictures, etc.
Aunt Sharon and Uncle Charlie arrived at the old house Saturday morning to help out and everyone jumped in to start loading up the last load to take to the new house. Aunt Sharon, BB, and I also worked on cleaning the house (although they went back again at the end and gave the house a SUPER deep spotless clean!!!) The movers came at 10 and moved most of the heavy furniture but Philip, Charlie, and Melvin were still lifting right along with them! Everyone else was also bringing in boxes and unloading boxes throughout the house.
Basically everyone worked, worked, worked in the heat all day! It was truly horrible from the heat! By the end we were all just exhausted! Philip and I sure are blessed! We appreciated everyone’s help so much! We are blessed with lots of hardworking, caring family! We got moved in and set up so quickly thanks to everyone’s help!

When the moving was over, we had a little time for playing and resting!
