On Monday, Landon and I went to visit his new class. His new class is different than the class I was expecting him to be in with a little more structure (like art time, story time, eating lunch in the cafeteria, sleeping on cots). I was nervous at first, but after seeing him in action, I think he’ll love it! He loves to be busy, and I think this class with challenge him intellectually with lots of sign language, singing, and learning of basic concepts. Of course there’s TONS of free play and exploration time too and about an hour and ½ of outside time spread throughout the day.
After our visit to daycare, I dropped Landon off at the Hammarlunds. Lindsay Ann, Abby, and I needed to work on planning some trainings. I also had a doctor’s appt. so Eric agreed to watch Landon for me. Such a nice guy! We had such a wonderful time planning our trainings. Abby made a delicious pasta salad with no vinegar! Just olive oil, tomatoes, basil, and chunks of mozzarella. Yum!! She also had bought LA and I our favorite drinks for the planning bottled coke for me and Dr. Pepper for LA! Isn’t that so sweet! I just love my work colleagues!! It sure makes going back to work so much easier! My doctor appt. went great too, and I got to hear Owen’s precious little heartbeat.
Monday night, Emily, Landon, and I drove to Atlanta to have dinner with my Dad. He was in town for a conference and treated us to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Yummy! We had a great time like always, and I sure enjoyed my 30th Anniversary Chocolate Cake Cheesecake!!! Landon loved hanging out with his Auntie Em and Popsy for a few hours and got to ride in the cars at the mall and up the escalator. We are so proud of Popsy because he won the Georgia Outstanding Career and Technical Educator Award while at the conference.
On Tuesday, we had swim lessons. Landon likes the swim lessons and enjoys the water. The class is designed for kids 3 and under to just get them comfortable in the water and begin teaching basic skills. Landon and I practice his kicking and we sing group songs, etc. In the afternoon, we had Landon’s 15 month appt. It went great!
Highlights of the appt: Landon is still a tiny little thing. In the first percentile for his weight but he had grown several inches taller. They weren’t worried though b/c he has always been small weight wise. Never been above the 11th percentile in weight!
They also said Landon was doing great with his verbal abilities. He said he could tell he was a teacher’s kid. Ha!Landon can say at least 12 words that we understand…maybe more that I can’t just quite catch… (Dada, Mama, KJ, ball, dog, duck, cat, uh-oh, hot, truck, snack, go, etc.) and can understand lots of commands (get your shoes, touch your nose, can you pick mommy a flower, will you bring me your block, get the bubbles, etc.).
The doctor also said he could tell that he was very active. The way he said it made me crack up inside. Our doctor has interesting social interactions, makes very little eye contact, and is very “official-sounding.” He said, “I can tell that his activity level is good based on the bruising patterns on his legs. They are much more typical of a child a little older.” Hmmm… I hope that’s a good thing? Overall, it was a good appointment and the Lan Man handled the shots well. He also did not have an ear infection! Woohoo!
After the appointment we went to the library with Elizabeth and Landon’s buddy James. The boys had a blast playing at the library and we got more books. We are almost finished with our summer reading log. I just have to remember to write the books down!
On Wednesday, Landon and I had his swim lessons again. Then we went to Leslie’s house. Philip and I had Owen’s 20 week ultrasound (I’m actually 21 weeks) so Leslie agreed to watch Landon for us. Lindsay Ann agreed to come over too so they could swim and have a couple of extra eyes on the Lman. Crystal also brought over Tripp to play with Landon. So what was supposed to be babysitting Landon turned out to be a super fun, unexpected, playdate!

Owen’s 20 week ultrasound was good. He was so sweet with his little hands curled up in front of his face. It was so nice to see him and all his fingers and toes. They confirmed that he was a boy, and we got to hear his heartbeat. I noticed that a couple of his measurements ran a little big (21 weeks 6 days), but they didn’t mention it. Overall, our sweet boy is growing, and we are over the half way point to his arrival! We can’t wait!! The ultrasound pictures the tech gave us did disappoint me a little. She didn’t really get a good full body shot, but we have some of different body parts. But I was really sad when we were leaving because when we tried to schedule the 3-D/4-D (which was probably my favorite thing from my pregnancy with Lman), we found out that you can only get them on Tuesday nights, which is when I teach my class at UGA. So we can’t get them. L I am really so sad! I’m hoping if I call and speak with the ultrasound technician we can try to figure out something.

Part 2 of this post will be continued in a new post! I guess I’m being super detailed on this post, and it’s getting really long! Sorry!
