Amelia Island Getaway

The boys and I went to the beach with my family in Amelia Island while Philip and his Dad were away on their father-son trip! I was so excited when Michelle and Trent called to invite us, and especially when Emily agreed to take off so she could come too!

The boys had been sick and were not quite well yet, but considering they had both been on antibiotics for over 7 days, we decided to go to the beach anyways! We pushed the trip back by one day and headed out Saturday morning! The drive was fine, and the boys were great. Emily was really good at keeping everyone happy by finding videos and sing-alongs on the ipad!

We had a wonderful time at the beach! We had a blast building sandcastles, the boys loved playing in the water, and Emily and I even got to go running a few times. We also celebrated Landon's birthday with a cookie cake and presents! Mom and Dad had bought the boys TONS of beach toys!

My favorite parts of the trip were the time spent with my sisters chatting and loving on my family!

We had crab legs one night which were delicious!! We also had a blast riding in the golf cart throughout the resort area and the boys loved the nights we went to play putt putt and to the park!

We had a blast on the beach and between the six of us, took WAY too many pictures! :) The boys loved digging holes, burying our legs, and making sandcastles...and of course knocking them down!!!

We also had fun one cool morning visiting the nature center. The kids loved petting the bunny and feeding the fish. We kind of liked the parrot, but his squawk was a bit scary!!

One funny thing that kept happening was that Owen's shoes kept falling off into water sources! It happened twice!!! Once when we were getting ice cream it fell into a pond and the restaurant owner had to use a net to get it out. Then when we were walking along the pier, his shoe fell off into the marsh. Luckily a kayaker was nearby and paddled over to his shoe to rescue it! Haha!

On our way home, the boys literally fell asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot. They slept for about 4 hours, and then we stopped at a waffle house to eat. The waitress asked how old the boys were, and when I told her that Landon would be three the next day, she gave him the royal treatment! She made him a Mickey Mouse waffle and then gave him a $1 and a hug when we left! Emily was a huge help the entire weekend and especially when we got home! She bathed and entertained the children while I unpacked everything and cleaned up! I have the BEST SISTERS EVER!!!
