I made banners for each of the fireplaces, and Emily drew signs with each of the characters to put out in the yard that Landon and I colored. I also ordered a few commercial items like the big backdrop for the patio and some Sesame Street cutouts.
Barbara and her friend from work also helped by making the gift bags and the tissue paper puff balls. We stuffed the bags and then glued the sesame street character's faces on the puff balls! BB also had a precious Elmo wreath made for the front door!
We had lots of fun activities for the kids! In addition to the play set and swings, we also had Elmo's Coloring Station, Big Bird's Bounce House, Bert and Ernie's Bubbles, and the Cookie Monster Cookie Toss (complete with 4 cookie bean bags I sewed!)!
For the food table, my friend Abby sewed me a table cloth using red fabric and yellow and white chevron. Dorothy (Landon's new goldfish) was the shining centerpiece of the table!! We also had lots of Sesame Street themed food including, Mr. Noodle's Noodle Salad, Big Bird's Chicken (Chick fil a nuggets), Elmo Sandwiches (using the Elmo crust cutter), Snuffy's Spicy Dip (Buffalo Chicken Dip), Abby's Flying Fairy Fruit, Elmo Vegetable Dip, and Dorothy's Goldfish.
My friend Lindsay Ann made the cupcakes. They were so amazing and of course delicious!!
Landon loved every step of the decorating process! When I'd put something up (which I started decorating about 2 weeks before the party...), he'd always notice and either say, "Wow!" or "Pretty!" Then he would name whichever character I just put up in such an excited way! It definitely made every second of cutting, gluing, and hanging worth it!!
The last little detail would be our outfits. We all wore Sesame Street Shirts! Landon's had Elmo on it of course and Owen's had Cookie Monster. My shirt had lots of characters and it said, "Everything I know, I learned from the street." Philip's shirt had snuffy (our favorite character!) and it said, "Every day I'm Snufflin!"
Boy did we have a blast with this Sesame Street Party!! Party planning sure is fun! To read about the fun we had at the party, check out this post!
