Our Little Fish

Our little Landon has learned how to swim! Let me start from the beginning...In June, Landon had 5 swim lessons with one of our neighbors. She was so sweet with him, and he loved learning with her each day. He was never afraid of the water, and would jump right into the pool! He did pretty well when she was teaching him and  started to learn how to kick and move his arms. I wouldn't have called him a swimmer after the lessons (he's only 2!), but he definitely got a good foundation.

Landon hasn't had swim lessons since June, but he has gotten to swim a good bit at our neighborhood pool and while we were on vacation. However he usually has on floaties because he would jump off the steps thinking he could swim and well...he couldn't. Today we forgot to bring our floaties to the pool, and I was SHOCKED when Landon jumped off the step towards me and actually knew how to swim!  We kept making him do it again and again, and he could every time! We would keep scooting back farther and farther, and he would make it! So hooray for Landon our little fishy! Now I just wonder if he will remember how to swim next summer or if he will have to learn all over again?

Oh, And just a disclaimer, we realize that although Landon does a pretty good job swimming short distances, he would not be able to swim long distances or swim any farther than he could hold his breath. We would never let him near the pool without someone swimming with him/beside him the entire time!
