Labor Day with Popsy and Lolo

A couple weeks ago Popsy and Lolo came up for Labor Day. I had an ultrasound on Friday, and they came up early so they could come and see the baby! It was so much fun to have them there, and they loved getting to see our cute little Lincoln! After the ultrasound, Philip and Dad left for an out of town football game and Mom and I celebrated with cupcakes and a little mini shopping spree for Lincoln. Then we picked up the boys and took them to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for a yummy dinner!

The next day we got to watch a lot of football and played around the house! Dad made a Gumbo for me!! Yummy! Philip had already been planning to go to the first UGA game with our neighbor Beau, so they went and had a nice time other than the heat.

Sadly on Saturday, one of Philip's students passed away from Cancer. He had been battling the cancer for a couple of years, and Philip was always so amazed at his courage, strength, and faith. Philip and Jacob were close, and he had not only been his principal, but he had taught him in middle school. He was/is heartbroken. Philip was asked to speak at Jacob's funeral on Monday in between his two youth pastors. His speech was beautiful and a wonderful tribute to such an amazing young man. The world was blessed to have him for 18 years, and the number of lives he touched in that short time was truly amazing.

Thank goodness Mom and Dad were in town that weekend, and were able to help us with the boys as Philip worked, and we attended all the different memorials for Jacob.

We did fit in an evening of fun to the golf course thanks to our sweet friend Susan, and riding around in the evening playing was so good for the soul! Even with the sad events of the weekend, we had a special time with mom and dad on the extended weekend and loved our time together!

(Dad did lots of fixing while they were in town! :) )
