We have been wanting to go camping for weeks! Unfortunately we've been busy and the weekends that we have had a night that we could go camping it was incredibly rainy! Finally we were excited to go Memorial Day Weekend. We picked the boys up around 11 on Sunday from Sharons and planned to drive up to Dahlonega set up camp and hike. We had stuff to grill, make smores, and play at our camp site! KJ even got to come! I checked the weather and there was about a 30% chance of rain. We decided to risk it and camp anyways. We drove the truck to carry all of our things, and when we were just about 5 minutes from our campsite we got caught in a torrential downpour. We stopped the car to throw our stuff in but it was too late. Everything was soaked! It rained for just long enough to worry us and cause us to decide that camping with wet things and 2 littles was not going to be a good idea. So we turned around and headed for home...depressing right? We stopped off at a lake after it stopped raining to walk around and feed the ducks then drove the rest of the way home.
When we got home we decided that we better turn our frowns upside down and make lemons into lemonade, so we decided to go camping on the porch! Philip lit a fire, we set the tent up on the porch, and we watched the rain while making smores! We even got to watch a camping Paw Patrol and tell stories in the tent. It turned out to be a wonderful night camping with my boys! And a bonus was that we all got to sleep in our own beds!!
