Landon's First Trip to the Dentist

About 2 weeks ago, Landon had his first trip to the dentist. It went pretty well. He was pretty nervous about sitting in the big chair, but was willing to sit in the chair and let the dentist look into his mouth if Mommy sat with him. He normally loves to brush his teeth, so I figured he'd think the dentist was awesome, but he was not so sure about all the equipment.

Our dentist office was fabulous with Landon though, and she explained each tool to him before she used it. He warmed up to her in no time. Landon's favorite tool was Mr. Thirsty (just like in the you tube videos we had watched about the dentist!) ! Sadly they did find a little soft spot on one of his top back teeth. It doesn't need to be filled, but we do have to be extra careful! They switched him to a flouride kid toothpaste to help. We are also being really good about only water and no snacks after brushing teeth at night. I didn't really think all the "rules" were a big deal before, because I have only had 2 cavities in my life, but apparently Landon got his father's teeth, so we are are going to have to be extra careful!

They also said that his baby teeth are unusually close together, and that he is going to HAVE to floss every night or he'll get cavities between his teeth. So we have been hardcore about flossing and have flossed every night since the appt! Luckily Landon remembers the things the dentist told him, so he is great about all the flossing and new drink rules with no complaining! Plus those little flosser sticks are super fun to use! Fingers crossed we keep the cavities away!

  1. It seems you're pretty consistent with daily brushing, and daily flossing as well. So unless there's something really wrong with Landon's teeth, he should be okay. He looked like he enjoyed his dental appointment, so I guess you won't have a hard time taking him to the dentist if ever he has dental emergency. Take care!

  2. I hope he’s keeping up with the nightly flossing. That routine will help avoid more unplanned dental trips in the future. Well, it looks like you have a good boy in your hands, who knows how to follow the dentist’s order reverently. Cheers!
