Invention Convention

This year I decided to make the Invention Convention a school-wide contest! I went to each classroom in second-fifth grade and conducted a lesson with the kids about inventing. We watched a few clips from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs as the opening, discussed the inventing process, and the kids brainstormed "bugs" they experienced at school, home, or out in world. Students then began to design possible inventions they could create at home. Students had a month or so to work on their inventions at home, and today we held the JJH Invention Convention.

We had about 30 students participate throughout the school. I was blessed to have several teacher friends judge the inventions for originality, flexibility, and elaboration! We are so proud of all the kids and their inventing!!
