Trip to Louisiana: New Orleans

This week was my spring break! I had a conference the first part of the week, but we left on Wednesday evening for Louisiana. We left as soon as Philip got off work which was around 4:30. We had talked through multiple scenarios of how the drive could go, but our hope was that the boys would be pretty content for the first couple hours of the drive and fall asleep for most of the drive. It worked out just as planned! BB got us a DVD player a few Christmases ago that Landon enjoyed watching movies on, and Owen enjoyed exploring his new car seat toys. The boys fell asleep around 8:30 and slept until we arrived in New Orleans around 12:30 am central time.

Of course they woke up early the next morning (6:30), but we were all so excited we just decided to get ready for our big day at the zoo!

We had such a wonderful time! Landon's favorite animals were the gorillas, giraffes, alligators, and elephants! He also loved the playground and climbing the trees! I loved all the memories from my childhood including seeing monkey hill where Michelle got lost as a child and the Louisiana swamp!

We got back to the hotel, took a nap, and went to eat. We walked around the riverwalk for a little while but were then so tired we decided to head back to the hotel for a popcorn and movie party!

The next morning we woke up early (again) and went to Cafe Du Monde. We ate our beignets in Battery Park, and BOY WERE THEY DELICIOUS!! We walked around the French Quarter a bit, then headed back to the hotel to pack up. We then went to the Children's Museum. It was amazing! My parents used to take us as children, and it was just as wonderful as I remembered! We stayed for over 2 hours, and honestly I think we could have stayed another two!! Landon LOVED it!! His favorite areas were the bubbles, the toddler area, and the boats. My favorite area has always been the grocery store! I think Philip liked the Cajun area the best...or maybe the bubbles! Owen doesn't have a favorite area yet because he mostly slept though the museum! :)

After a fantastic morning, we loaded up and headed to Baton Rouge for lots of visits with family!
