Trip to Baton Rouge

Philip and I get an entire week for Thanksgiving! We love to take a little family vacation at the start of our break, and this year we decided to go to Louisiana so I could visit my grandparents.

We left right after school on Friday and drove all the way to Biloxi. Early Saturday morning (b/c the kids woke up SUPER early each day of our trip) we ventured to a little nature center and walked around at the marsh.

We headed to Baton Rouge and arrived right at 11:30 for the Thanksgiving lunch with Maw Maw and Paw Paw. We sure enjoyed our time with so much family. There was lots of good food, dancing, and Landon even taught Maw Maw how to play checkers.

(Watch the succession of Landon and Owen in these next three pictures! Haha!)

After lunch, we explored Baton Rouge a little bit and took the boys to see Mike the Tiger. There happened to be a basketball game, so we got to go inside the arena and watch the last 20 minutes of the game. Then we went to Aunt Carol's house, ate gumbo, and celebrated Mom's birthday! (Love you Mom! )

Aunt Carol's house was perfect for the kiddos, and we loved playing in the guest room. She was such a sweet host and even had us all presents. She also organized a family lunch with the Backes side of the family on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday morning was wonderful, as I got to have some one on one time with my grandparents. I took MawMaw to say the rosary, and we got to spend time just chatting. This is certainly a trip I will cherish. It means so much getting to see my grandparents and so many other members of my Louisiana family.
