Spring Break 2014

Last week was my spring break, and it was fantastic!

I had to work the first two days as I was attending and presenting at the Georgia Association for Gifted Children. I was honored on Monday to receive an award for GAGC for promoting equity and excellence among traditionally underrepresented gifted populations. The award is named after Mary Frasier who was a leader in Georgia and the nation for her work in providing all students (specifically diverse learners) with excellent and equitable practices. It was an honor to receive such a meaningful award. I am very blessed with great colleagues and administrators who promote and support my work with these amazing students!

On Tuesday afternoon after my conference, I raced to get the boys and we played outside all afternoon in the sprinkler! It was our first day of 2014 with temps in the 80s, and we loved it!!

The boys (Landon) talked me in to keeping them home the rest of the week (which wasn't too hard) even though I had planned to take them to daycare some. Instead we played and played! We went to Pump it Up and Inokos with our friends on Thursday and INK in Gainesville on Friday!

My favorite memory of the week was at the doctor for Owen's 15 month appt and shots. When Owen was getting his shots, he of course was crying, and Landon jumped up from the chair, climbed up the stool beside Owen and started kissing his face repeatedly. He then said, "It's okay brother. I love you. It's all over." It was beyond precious, and both the nurse and I teared up by how sweet Landon was to Owen. It made me very proud that we were raising kind little boys who love each other!!

Overall it was a fabulous spring break, and even though we didn't go anywhere, I don't think I could have had it any better!! Well... Unless Philip had the whole week off with us too! That would have made it better!
